Deteriorating security in northern Aleppo | Uncertainty surrounds explosion at checkpoint of Turkish-backed factions, and IED explosion kills civilian

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR sources have reported an unknown explosion at a military checkpoint of the Turkish-backed “51st Brigade” on the outskirts of Ihtemaylat town in the northern countryside of Aleppo. The explosion, which injured several members stationed on the checkpoint, coincided with the flight of unidentified reconnaissance drones over the area.

On the other hand, a person was killed in an IED explosion in his car in Mazra’aat Al-Matar village, near Al-Sukariyyah in Al-Bab city in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported hearing an explosion in Afrin city, which is under the control of Turkish forces and their proxies. The explosion was caused by the detonation of an IED placed earlier in a dumpster in Al-Mahmoudiyyah neighbourhood, near the cultural centre, but no casualties were reported.

It is worth noting that the area hosts military headquarters belonging to Turkish-backed factions, while this explosion coincided with the escalating security chaos in the area.

On October 5, SOHR sources reported hearing a loud explosion in Afrin city, which is under the control of Turkish-backed factions in northern Aleppo, as a result of a car-bomb explosion near Ma’arata junction on the outskirts of the city. The explosion injured five people.
