Deir ez-Zor countryside | SDF arrests injured smuggler in hospital, angry relatives attack SDF military post, and SDF brings in reinforcement and storms smuggling crossings

Deir ez-Zor governorate- Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR activists say that SDF’s “Anti-Terrorist Forces” stormed the hospital of Al-Shuhayl town and arrested a young man who was injured during a family dispute in the town of Al-Shuhayl.

According to Observatory sources, the young man is responsible for one of the smuggling crossings from the town of Al-Shuhayl to regime-controlled areas.

In the meantime, the young man’s relatives attacked an SDF military post and opened fire on its members, injuring one SDF member. While SDF sent in reinforcement to the post, stormed smuggling crossings and blew up water ferries used for smuggling.

Areas in Deir ez-Zor between the regime-controlled areas and SDF-held areas, are witnessing a surge in smuggling operations through river crossings usiing ferries due to the Euphrates River separating the two areas.

On October 19, Observatory activists said that a scuffle broke out between two families in the town of Al-Baguz, east of Deir ez-Zor, during which a young man threw a grenade. The fight evolved into clashes with machine guns between the two families, leaving eight people injured on both sides.
