Deteriorating security | Unknown gunmen attack HTS checkpoint near Syria-Turkey border

Idlib Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: reliable sources have informed SOHR that unknown gunmen opened machinegun fire, in the early hours of Friday morning, on checkpoint affiliated to Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham in Kafr Lusin area in northern Idlib near the border with the Iskenderun region.

Clashes erupted between HTS members stationed at the checkpoint and the attackers, leaving several HTS members injured.

On October 17, SOHR sources reported an IED explosion in a motorcycle near Al-Kufayr village in the south of Jisr Al-Shughur city. The explosion injured a man seriously.

It is worth noting that the explosion coincided with the deteriorating security in areas under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions.

Observatory activists monitored earlier that day an explosion in Idlib city, which is under the control of opposition factions and Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, caused by the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) in a car parked in a neighbourhood in the city. The explosion injured one person and caused material damage.
