Death toll update | 23 people killed in US drone attack on “dinner gathering” in Idlib’s Salqin

Syrian Observatory activists have documented further fatalities in yesterday’s airstrikes by a US drone which targeted a “dinner gathering” arranged by ex-ISIS commander in Jakarah village in Salqin countryside, near the border with the Iskenderun region, as the death of another civilian attending the “dinner gathering” was confirmed. Accordingly, the death toll has risen to 23, six civilians and 17 jihadists, as a result of the US drone attack.

It is worth noting that the jihadists killed were commanders and fighters who had split from Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and agreed with “Hurras Al-Din” jihadi organization regarding the rejection the Russian-Turkish agreements of the “de-escalation zone”. Moreover, the fatalities included 11 ex-HTS commanders, five of whom were non-Syrians, as well as an ex-ISIS commander who later joined HTS.

The death toll is expected to rise further as the attack left several persons injured, some seriously. There are unconfirmed reports of more casualties.
