Daraa uprising | Several protests call for toppling of Syrian regime and demand release of detainees

Daraa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have monitored today three demonstrations in different areas throughout Daraa province, where the demonstrators called for the toppling of the Syrian regime and release of detainees in regime’s prisons. The demonstrations took place in Daraa Al-Balad, Tafas in the western countryside of Daraa, and Al-Harrak in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

On October 17, Syrian Observatory activists said that anti-regime graffiti left by unknown individuals on the walls and houses in Al-Harrak city in the eastern countryside of Daraa, condemning the Syrian regime’s violations. Some pieces of this graffiti read: “Our silence paves the way for our elimination, one after another”, while others threaten to kill the head of the military security branch.

This development came as a part of Daraa’s popular uprising against regime forces and loyal militias.

On October 15, Observatory activists monitored nearly 3,000 civilians participating in mourning the death of leaders and former opposition fighters in Daraa al-Balad city. The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for the overthrow of the Syrian regime and holding the Syrian regime and its security services the responsibility for the assassination.
