Reacting to “Al-Dwaila” massacre | Opposition factions fire nearly 900 rockets and shells on regime positions across “de-escalation zone”, leaving casualties

Rebel, Islamic factions, Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and jihadi groups continue intensive rocket fire on regime positions in the countryside of Aleppo, Hama, Idlib and Latakia, in the “de-escalation zone”. According to SOHR sources the opposition factions have fired over 900 rockets and artillery shells since yesterday evening, targeting Hazarin, Al-Malaja, Shansharah, Marraat Al-Nu’man, Al-Hamediyyah, Maarshorin, Jbala, Hassanah, Maarmater, Tal Mannas, Tramla, Al-Dar Al-Kabera, Kafr Nubl, Hantoutin, Ma’sraan, Saraqeb, Khan Al-Sabil, Dadikh, Jubas, Kafr Batikh, Maar Debseh, Al-Jaradah, in the souterh and eastern countryside of Idlib, Al-Hakourah, Tanjarah, Jurin, Kawkabah in the western countryside of Hama, Al-Marij, Salma, Shallaq, Tal Abu As’ad, Ain Al-Qantarah in Latakia mountains, the 46th Regiment, Basartoun, Kafr Halab and Miznanz in the western countryside of Aleppo.

Meanwhile, SOHR activists have documented the death of at least 12 regime soldiers and loyalists in this intensive shelling, and the fatalities  could be categorised according to areas as follows:

  • Saraqeb in eastern Idlib: Three fatalities.

  • Frontlines of Latakia mountains: four fatalities.

  • Hama countryside: three fatalities.

  • Aleppo: two fatalities.

The death toll is expected to rise as the shelling left several military personnel injured, some seriously. There are unconfirmed reports of more casualties.

SOHR sources monitored earlier this morning intensive shelling by the “National Liberation Front” factions, including al-Sham Corps, since yesterday evening, on regime-controlled areas in the “de-escalation zone”.

Rebels also targeted with hundreds of rocket-propelled grenades and artillery Hazarin, Malajeh, Termala, al-Dar al-Kabira, Kafranbel, Hantotin, Massaran in southern Idlib, Saraqeb, Khan al-Sabil, Dadikh, Jobas and Kafrbatikh, east of Idlib, as well as Hakura, Tanjara and Jourin in western countryside of Hama, and other areas in the Latakia mountains and western Aleppo countryside, amid confirmed reports of casualties.

This escalation came in response to the massacre committed by Russian jets which struck a camp of al-Sham Corps, north-west of Idlib, which left dozens of casualties.

Yesterday, SOHR sources documented a spike in the death toll of the Russian airstrikes, which targeted a camp belonging to the Ankara-backed al-Sham Corps in the area of Jabal al-Dawila in Harem, northwest of Idlib.

As many of the wounded died and further bodies were discovered, the number of fighters killed so far has risen to 78, while rescue teams continued searching for the missing and hospitalizing the wounded.

The death toll is expected to rise as the attack left 90 others injured, some seriously, while many others are still missing under the rubble, amid reports of further fatalities.
