Growing tension | Civilians among over 20 people killed and injured in fierce clashes among members of “Sultan Murad” in Ras Al-Ain

Al-Hasakah Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have documented the death of five members of “Sultan Murad” faction and injury of 16 others they are: 12 members of the same factions and four civilians, following fierce clashes which erupted this evening among members of “Sultan Murad” at Al-Duwayrah checkpoint in Ras Al-Ain countryside in rural Al-Hasakah.

The clashes extended later into Ras Al-Ain city which caused panic among civilians due to the indiscriminate gunshots near the areas of conflict, as the warring parties used light and medium weapons and RPGs.

According to SOHR sources, the clashes flared up after a dispute over revenue-sharing at Al-Duwayrah checkpoint and arresting members of “Sultan Murad” faction.

On October 17, SOHR sources reported growing tension in area in Ras al-Ain (Seri Kanier) among “Sultan Murad”, “Jaish al-Sharqiya” and “Suleiman Shah”, due to disagreements over checkpoints, the imposition of levies on civilians and the preventing them from travelling into and out of the city.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, members of “Jaish al-Sharqiya” prevented one of “Sultan Murad” members from passing through their checkpoint which caused that tension.

A day earlier, Syrian Observatory activists monitored clashes with medium weapons between Al-Hamzat faction and Al-Rahman Corps in Sawdaa village in Ras Al-Ain countryside, in “peace Spring” areas in Al-Hasakah countryside.
