Murek | After transporting most of the observation post’s contents to Idlib, Turkish forces sabotage its location and evade paying due rent

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Turkish forces transported most of the contents of their observation post in Murek town to Idlib countryside in the past few days. It is expected that the post will be completely evacuated on Friday.

According to SOHR sources, the Turkish forces have empted the post of all military and logistical supplies, leaving parts of the perimeter wall. Meanwhile, Turkish forces sabotaged the plot of land on which the post were established, and destroyed large parts of the buildings there.

On the other hand, the owner of the land known by his initials as M.M. keeps trying to communicate with Al-Sham Corps to pay the rent of his land, since the military corps had mediated between the land owner and Turkish forces to establish the observation post on his land. However, the land owner’s efforts were all in vain and the Turkish forces and Al-Sham Corps have evaded paying the rent due of the land for nearly two years and four months. Moreover, the Turkish forces sabotaged the land before their withdrawal.

It is worth noting that the contract expired in June 2020 and it has not been renewed, although the Turkish forces remained in this site for further months, but instead Turkish forces expanded their presence, sabotaged the land and cut down pistachio trees.

Yesterday, SOHR activists monitored Turkish forces transporting equipment from the ninth observation post in Murek, under protection by Russian forces, to positions in Jabal Al-Zawiyah in Idlib countryside.

It is worth noting that Turkish forces started dismantling the ninth observation posy on October 19,2020, and evacuating large equipment and machineries.
