Government forces reinforce Syrian Desert after several clashes with ISIS

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that military reinforcements of the government forces arrived in the Al-Sukhnah desert, east of Homs, and Ar-Rassafa desert, south of Raqqa.

The reinforcements consist of military vehicles, weapons, ammunition, and soldiers from the al-Baqir Brigade and the Palestinian al-Quds Brigade, in order to confront ISIS sleeper cells deployed in the region.Clashes took place yesterday evening between ISIS sleeper cells and Syrian government forces on the outskirts of the village of Al-Shula, south of Deir ez-Zor, according to a local website.

Two days ago, Russian forces instructed the checkpoints and military points deployed in Deir ez-Zor desert to cut off the Deir ez-Zor-Damascus road, Russian forces only allowed military vehicles to pass on the road.About 30 members of the Syrian government forces and ISIS were killed in violent clashes last Tuesday, on separate axes in the Syrian desert.ISIS, which is very active in the Syrian desert, continues to carry out military operations against the Syrian government forces and its affiliated groups by setting up ambushes, laying mines, and launching surprise attacks.The government forces, with their ally Russia, are seeking to conduct intense and continuous air strikes on a daily basis on ISIS sites, within the Syrian Desert in the sectors of Hama, Homs, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor.
