Daraa instability | Officer among regime affiliates killed in clashes at checkpoint of “Air-Force Intelligence”

Daraa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: A group of regime soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel, were killed in clashes at a checkpoint of the “Air-Force Intelligence” branch near Al-Karak town in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

SOHR sources reported earlier this morning that former fighters of opposition factions targeted al-Karak al-Sharqi checkpoint in east Daraa countryside with RPGs, before they took control of the checkpoint and arrested more than nine members stationed there. Meanwhile, regime forces stationed at Al-Tha’ala military airport in western Al-Suwaidaa shelled the area with rocket-propelled grenades, but no casualties reported, while tension was rising in the area there.

SOHR sources said earlier that Daraa governorate was witnessing a tension and a series of incidents following the security campaign by regime forces and pro-regime and Iran militiamen on the outskirts of Daraa al-Balad in Daraa city, targeting ISIS cells, as regime forces claimed.

Regime forces and settled-status members of Military Intelligence and the Iranian-backed 4th Division continued sweeping the areas of Al-Shayyah and al-Nakhla on the outskirts of Daraa al-Balad.

Moreover, SOHR sources said that settled-status members and the Russians blocked roads, closed the entrances of al-Yadouda, Tafas and Jilin Residences in western countryside of Daraa, and captured a regime checkpoint in Jilin Residences. They also arrested ten regime soldiers, including two officers, in response to the regime’s security campaign.

Meanwhile, local factions in al-Harak called for all-around mobilization to confront regime forces and their practices. All of these development coincide with the Russian-Iranian conflict in Daraa province through local powers and loyalists backed by each side.
