Coronavirus in regime-held areas | Confirmed cases exceed 60,000, and deaths rise to more than 3,200

Reliable medical sources in regime-controlled areas have informed SOHR that Covid-19 is still spreading, while regime authorities continue misinformation and keeping the real number of deaths and infection cases with coronavirus secret.

Since the beginning of this month, thousands of new cases have been recorded in these areas, with hundreds of deaths. Meanwhile, most of the infection cases and deaths are still documented in the provinces of Aleppo, Damascus and Rif Dimashq, amid disastrous medical situation.

According to SOHR latest statistics, based on reports obtained from reliable medical sources in regime-controlled areas, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has reached some 60,100, of which 17,250  recovered, and 3,220 died. The cases are distributed across all Syrian provinces. However, most of the deaths and infections have been in Aleppo, Damascus and Rif Dimashq.
