Reliable sources have informed SOHR that the commander of the “National Defense Forces” in the city of Al-Mayadeen, east of Deir ez-Zor, has issued a new decree canceling the leave granted to the “National Defense” members.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the decision was circulated to the members of the “National Defense” which reads: “Each member ends his shift at the posts in al-Badia to fight against the Islamic State, continues to performe his duties at checkpoints and postguards scattered in the neighbourhoods of the city of al-Mayadeen. The decision caused dicontent among the affiliated members, and thet considered unjust.

On November 9, SOHR sources inside the city of Al-Mayadeen, which is under the control of the Iranians and allied militias and regime forces, said that a dispute took place between the commander of the National Defense militia in Al-Mayadeen and one of his members. The member assaulted his own commander badly in front of the “Al-Rabwa Canteen” on the Corniche street in the city, after the commander reprimanded the member for his failure to fulfil his military duties for about a week.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the member was under the influence of alcohol and severely beat the militia commander.
