Israeli attacks | Ten militiamen killed in airstrikes on positions in Damascus and Rif Dimashq

Syrian Observatory activists have reported a new Israeli attack on Syria, as fighter jets struck a regime-affiliated “air defence” centre and other positions and weapon depots of Iranian-backed militias and the Lebanese Hezbollah in Damascus international airport, its perimeter, Sayeda Zeinab area, Al-Keswa, and other positions in the south and south-west of the capital, Damascus, near the administrative border with Al-Quneitra.

The new Israeli airstrikes have caused material and human losses, as SOHR activists have documented the death of ten people and they are as follows:

  • Three Syrian officers and members of air-defence forces.

  • Five militiamen of “Al-Quds Corps” believed to of Iranian nationality.

  • Two other militiamen, but it is not known yet if they were Lebanese or Iraqis.

The death toll is expected to rise further as the attack left several persons injured, some seriously. There are unconfirmed reports of more casualties. Furthermore, the attack caused substantial material damage.

On October 21, Observatory activists documented the death of three militiamen of groups loyal to the Lebanese Hezbollah in the Israeli attack which targeted Al-Huriyyah school in the northern countryside of Al-Quneitra. The fatalities included a Syrian militiaman, while the nationalities of the others remained unknown.
