Imminent military operation | Russians and regime forces prepare for new security campaign in Syrian desert, as ISIS steps up attacks
Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that regime forces and loyal militias are preparing to launch a new security campaign targeting the Islamic State, which is active in large areas in the Syrian desert. The campaign will be under direct Russian supervision in addition to air support by Russian fighter jets.
The security campaign is being prepared in training camps west of Albu Kamal in eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in light of the escalating attacks of ISIS members on positions of regime forces and their loyal militias. Meanwhile, contact was lost with a number of members of the pro-regime Palestinian “Al-Quds Brigade”, as they were on their way from Al-Tabni to Jabal al-Bashri in Deir ez-Zor.
Days ago, SOHR sources said that regime forces lost contact with a group of seven “National Defense” members near the Town of Maskana in eastern Aleppo countryside within their areas of control.
According to SOHR sources, the group set off from Maskana town to the town of Deir Hafer and lost contact with it, while regime forces were put on high alert in case of any security breach.
