Al-Hasakah | SDF releases 23 former ISIS fighters from Deir ez-Zor province

Observatory sources say that the SDF’s Relations Department has released 23 people who were former fighters of the Islamic State.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the 23 members were released under tribal elders’ guarantees, mostly residents from Al-Sour and Markada areas in northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. They were arrested earlier while they were fighting with the Islamic State, and they were in the SDF prison in Al-Shaddadi area in Al-Hasakah countryside.

Here is a list of dates and number of people released under tribal elders’ guarantees:

On November 16, the “Self-Administration” of northern and eastern Syria released 120 families from al-Hawl camp in Al-Hasakah countryside, most of them are residents from Deir ez-Zor province. They were released under tribal elders’ guarantees, and the number of the new batch released is estimated at 515 people.

Since the beginning of October 2020, the “Self-Administration” of the northern and eastern regions of Syria released 156 families from al-Hawl camp, under tribal elders’ guarantees, according to Syrian Observatory sources.

On October 1, the “Self-Administration” released 48 families from Al-Hawl camp, under tribal elders’ guarantees, most of them from the towns of al-Soussa, Al-Shaghfeh and Al-Baguz, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, who had been displaced from their towns and detained by SDF in Al-Hawl camp in Al-Hasakah countryside during the military campaign against the Islamic State.

On October 12, the “Self-Administration” of northern and eastern Syria, under tribal elders’ guarantees, released 73 families, they are 289 Syrians from al-Hawl Camp to their towns in al-Soussa, Al-Shaghfeh and Al-Baguz in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

On October 28, the “Self-Administration” of northern and eastern Syria released a new batch of 35 Syrian families from al-Hawl Camp in the far southeast of Hasaka province, most of whom are residents of Raqqa and its outskirts.
