Syrian desert | Backed by Russian aircraft, regime forces and proxy militias continue combing operations

SOHR activists have reported that regime forces and loyalists, backed by Russian aircraft, continue combing operations and searching for ISIS cells in the Syrian desert, from west Deir Ezzor desert and Al-Raqqah desert to the Hama and Homs deserts. Meanwhile, Russian fighter jets executed more than 16 airstrikes on ISIS positions in the eastern countryside of Hama and Al-Raqqah desert.

On the other hand, the regime’s engineering teams have been searching for landmines and IEDs planted by ISIS members in order to ambush regime infantry groups on off-road and rugged areas.

On Monday, SOHR activists documented the death of two regime soldiers and injury of others in ISIS attack on their positions in the western countryside of Hama.

Meanwhile, a civilian from the western countryside of Idlib was killed while a woman was injured a few days earlier, as the vehicle they were traveling in was passing in conflict zone between ISIS and regime forces in the eastern countryside of Sallamiyyah. It is worth noting that the vehicle was carrying civilians coming from Lebanon.
