Backed by Russian aircraft | Regime forces, Palestinian “al-Quds Brigade” and “National Defense” launch new military campaign against ISIS in Deir ez-Zor desert

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored Russian and regime jets flying over the area al-Mayadeen desert in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, executing intensive airstrikes on ISIS strongholds in the area. The airstrikes coincided with a new security campaign in that area, led by the regime-backed “National Defense” forces, targeting ISIS cells.

Meanwhile, regime forces and loyalists launched a similar security campaign, led by the Palestinian al-Quds Brigade against ISIS cells within al-Badia, south of Deir ez-Zor.

On November 25, SOHR activists reported that regime forces and loyalists, backed by Russian aircraft, continue combing operations and searching for ISIS cells in the Syrian desert, from west Deir Ezzor desert and Al-Raqqah desert to the Hama and Homs deserts. Meanwhile, Russian fighter jets executed more than 16 airstrikes on ISIS positions in the eastern countryside of Hama and Al-Raqqah desert.

On the other hand, the regime’s engineering teams have been searching for landmines and IEDs planted by ISIS members in order to ambush regime infantry groups on off-road and rugged areas.
