Repression in Idlib | Civilian arrested in Sarmin for “criticizing HTS”

Idlib Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham arrested a civilian in Sarmin city in eastern Idlib for “criticizing HTS decision of the opening of crossing with regime-controlled areas in Saraqeb and the HTS affiliated bodies’ corruption”.

It is worth noting that two of the arrested civilian’s sons were killed earlier while fighting on the side of ISIS in Deir Ezzor province, while his third son and his daughter are detained in prisons in Turkey for “belonging to ISIS”.

Yesterday, Observatory activists documented the death of a civilian from Darat Izza in the western countryside of Aleppo, after being shot by gunmen of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham.

According to SOHR sources, HTS security services stormed the victim’s house in Darat Izza city on Friday, with the aim to arrest him for “smuggling cigarettes from areas controlled by Turkish forces and their proxy factions in northern Aleppo to HTS-held areas in Idlib city and countryside and parts of Aleppo countryside”.

The civilian attempted to escape during the raid on his house, so HTS members directly opened fire on him, injuring him seriously, where he died of his injuries in the following day.
