Deir Ezzor | IRGC command amasses troops and raises military readiness in Al-Mayadeen following repeated attacks on Iranian positions

Deir Ezzor Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources have told SOHR that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) issued a decree, amassing IRGC members and its affiliated local militiamen and ordering them to raise readiness and cancel their leave in Al-Mayadeen city and countryside in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

This development comes in the wake of the recent intensive airstrikes on positions of IRGC and its proxy militias in eastern Deir Ezzor in November.

On November 16, reliable sources informed SOHR that the commander of the “National Defense Forces” (NDF) in Al-Mayadeen city, east of Deir Ezzor, issued a new decree canceling the leave granted to NDF members.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the decision, which was circulated to NDF members, read: “Every member who ends his shift at the posts in al-Badia for fighting ISIS, will continue to perform his duties at checkpoints and outposts in the neighbourhoods of al-Mayadeen city”. The decree caused discontent among the affiliated members who considered that decision unjust.
