Eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside | IED explodes killing Iranian-backed militiaman of Afghan nationality

SOHR sources say that Iranian-backed militiaman of Afghan nationality was killed, on November 29, as an IED exploded in al-Bukamal area in eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour.

Iranian militias are operating west of the Euphrates in the eastern Deir ez-Zor region.

Attacks continue in various forms on these militias, through IEDs and airstrikes on their military positions in the area.

On November 26, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored new airstrikes targeting pro-Iranian militias’ positions in al-Bukamal countryside, east of Deir ez-Zor. Unidentified aircraft, believed to be Israeli, targeted this morning positions of “Zaynabiyoun Brigade” militia in the al-Jala and Hamdan desert, west of al-Bukamal town in eastern Deir ez-Zour countryside, leaving human and material losses.

19 militiamen were killed, including two group leaders. The attack also destroyed positions and vehicles.  

On November 22, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented several fatalities in airstrikes by aircraft, believed to be Israeli, on the positions of pro-Iranian militias in al-Bukamal countryside east of Deir ez-Zor.

Some 14 pro-Iranian militiamen of Afghan and Iraqi nationalities were killed in the shelling, which targeted new positions affiliated with these militias. Two positions and vehicles were also destroyed in the attack.
