ISIS resurgence | Leader among seven militiamen of “al-Quds Brigade” killed in ambush in eastern Deir ez-Zor, and over 40 Russian airstrikes pound ISIS positions in al-Badiya
SOHR sources say that seven militiamen of “Al-Quds Brigade”, including a leader, were killed and others were injured yesterday, after a military convoy was ambushed by ISIS cells on the road between the city of Al-Mayadeen and Fayda Ibn Moweni’e in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.
On the other hand, Russian jets carried out more than 40 airstrikes today targeting the positions and fortifications of Islamic State members in the Syrian desert within the administrative borders of Homs, Hama, Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces. No casualties have been reported so far.
On November 29, SOHR sources documented the death of Iranian-backed militiaman of Afghan nationality, as an IED exploded in al-Bukamal area in eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour.
Iranian militias are operating west of the Euphrates in the eastern Deir ez-Zor region.
Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of 1,027 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, and 140 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Homs, and Al-Suwaidaa.
Also, four civilians working in gas fields, 11 shepherds and four other people were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 562 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardment in the same period.
