Syrian desert | Over 25 Russian airstrikes target ISIS positions, as Russian-backed militiamen comb the area

SOHR activists say that Russian jets have carried out more than 25 airstrikes this morning, targeting ISIS cells’ positions and fortifications in Al-Badia within the administrative border of Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Hama and Homs provinces, coinciding with the deployment of Russian-backed militiamen to comb these areas in search for ISIS cells. No casualties have been reported so far.

SOHR activists said earlier that seven militiamen of “Al-Quds Brigade”, including a leader, were killed and others were injured yesterday, after a military convoy was ambushed by ISIS cells on the road between the city of Al-Mayadeen and Fayda Ibn Moweni’e in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.

On the other hand, Russian jets carried out more than 40 airstrikes today targeting the positions and fortifications of Islamic State members in the Syrian desert within the administrative borders of Homs, Hama, Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces. No casualties were reported so far.
