Azaz | Local council imposes fine on people attempting to smuggle themselves into Turkey

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources have informed SOHR that the “local council” in Azaz city in northern Aleppo has imposed a fine of an estimated 200 TL on everyone caught trying to illegally cross into Turkish territory.

 

On October 13, SOHR activists documented the death of a child after being shot by the Turkish border guard forces (Jandarma), while he was trying to cross into Turkey from Al-Nesriyyah area in Jendires countryside in north-western Aleppo, near the Syria border with Iskenderun region.

 

According to SOHR statistics, the number of Syrian civilians who have been killed by the Turkish Jandarma since the beginning of the Syrian Revolution, has risen to 459 including 81 children under the age of eighteen and 44 females over the age of eighteen.
