Deir Ezzor Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: The US-trained “Petroleum Facilities Guard Units” have assumed the task of guarding the oil wells and fields in Deir Ezzor countryside, as they raised their own flag on Al-Omar oil field, after lowering SDF and YPG flags.

According to SOHR sources, the “Petroleum Facilities Guard Units” are affiliated to Syria Democratic Forces, and it has been formed with the aim to prevent the formation of a local faction comprising fighters from the region.

On November 21, SOHR sources reported that representatives of the U.S. State Department and military representatives of the International Coalition met with SDF and leaders of Deir Ezzor Military and Civil Councils at Al-Omar oil field base in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, to talk about recent developments in the fight against terrorism and against ISIS sleeper cells and ways to support the region’s infrastructure.

The U.S. and the International Coalition also confirmed their continued support for SDF logistically and militarily, and the Civilian Council in Deir Ezzor to improve the region’s facilities and services.
