At Turkey’s orders | Engineering workshops rehabilitate M4, along with military movements in Jabal Al-Zawiyah

SOHR activists have reported that maintenance work is underway on Aleppo-Latakia international highway (M4) in the western countryside of Idlib and areas near Bdama, as local workshops are removing soil barriers, rehabilitate bridges and paving the damaged parts along the highway, at Turkey’s order, with the aim to run joint patrols with the Russians in accordance with earlier agreements.

Meanwhile, a technical workshop is reconstructing a bridge near Muhambel town after being destroyed completely by the explosions of IEDs planted by unknown gunmen in November.

On the other hand, SOHR sources monitored in the past few hours movements by Turkish forces in Jabal Al-Zawiyah, along with deploying troops on the frontlines with regime forces.

It is worth noting that the Turkish-affiliated engineering teams are tasked with checking the M4 highway periodically in order to remove and dismantle IEDs planted by unknown individuals believed that they reject the Russian-Turkish understandings and agreements in Idlib. On December 7, Observatory activists monitored the deployment of Turkish forces on the “M4” highway towards Ariha city where Turkish forces detonated an IED planted earlier on the road.

Moreover, Turkish forces continued sending military reinforcement to the “de-escalation zone”, bringing the number of Turkish military units which entered the “de-escalation zone” since February 2 to date to more than 10,880 trucks and military vehicles, including tanks, personnel carriers, armoured vehicles, mobile bullet proof guard booths and military radars.
