North of Raqqa | Turkish forces shell villages of Ain Issa countryside, as clashes erupt on frontlines

Raqqa Province- Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored, this evening, clashes between SDF and Turkish-backed factions, following infiltration attempt by Turkish-backed factions into SDF positions on frontlines of the village of Ma’alak near the international road “M4” in countryside of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa.

Meanwhile, Turkish forces shelled the villages of Ma’alak and Sayda in the same area, but no casualties have been reported so far.

Yesterday, Turkish forces fired flares over Ain Issa camp in SDF-controlled areas in northern Al-Raqqah, along with artillery fire which hit positions in the camp and the villages of Sayda and Mu’allaq in the same region. No casualties were so far.

On December 11, SOHR sources monitored clashes near M4 highway in the western countryside of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, between Ankara-backed factions and Syria Democratic Forces, following an infiltration attempt into SDF positions.

The clashes were accompanied by exchange of fire, amid confirmed reports of casualties. Meanwhile, Turkish forces and proxy factions shelled positions in Ain Issa where several shells fell near a Russian post in the area.
