Al-Raqqah | Turkish-backed factions infiltrate into M4 road in Ain Issa countryside

Al-Raqqah province- Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored this evening exchange of fire between the SDF and Turkish-backed factions, coinciding with an infiltration attempt by Turkish-backed factions into SDF posts in the village of Maalak near the M4 road in countryside of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa.

In the meantime, Turkish-backed factions shelled the villages of Maalak, Ain Issa camp and other locations near the Aleppo-Hasakeh road “M4”, resulting in casualties on both sides.

Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored clashes between SDF and Turkish-backed factions, following infiltration attempt by Turkish-backed factions into SDF positions on frontlines of the village of Ma’alak near the international road “M4” in countryside of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa.

Meanwhile, Turkish forces shelled the villages of Ma’alak and Sayda in the same area, but no casualties were reported so far.

Turkish forces had fired flares over Ain Issa camp in SDF-controlled areas in northern Al-Raqqah, along with artillery fire which hit positions in the camp and the villages of Sayda and Mu’allaq in the same region. No casualties were so far.

On December 11, SOHR sources monitored clashes near M4 highway in the western countryside of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, between Ankara-backed factions and Syria Democratic Forces, following an infiltration attempt into SDF positions. The clashes were accompanied by exchange of fire.
