In light of military escalation in the region | SDF leaders meet with Russian and regime officers in Ain Issa countryside

Al-Raqqah province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that a meeting took place on Wednesday, between leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces with Russian and regime officers in the village of Sheikh Hassan, located in the countryside of Ain Issa in northern countryside of Raqqa. The meeting focused on the recent Turkish escalation and the reports of an imminent Turkish military operation in the region, while no information has been reported so far about the results of the meeting.

On December 8, reliable sources informed SOHR that Russian, regime forces and Syria Democratic Forces have agreed on establishing joint posts in the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah, during a meeting held in the Russian base today.

According to SOHR sources, the first post will be established in the eastern part of Ain Issa district, the second post will be on the M4 international highway, while the third one will be established in the western part of Ain Issa district.

These posts will be tasked with observing Turkey’s violations and bombardment on the area.

On December 8, reliable SOHR sources confirmed that Russian forces met with leaders of the SDF in light of the recent military escalation in the area of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, as the area is witnessing daily intensive rocket attacks by Turkish forces and their proxy factions, in addition to the near-daily clashes on frontlines in the area.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, Russian officers asked SDF leaders to hand over government departments in Ain Issa to the Syrian regime, but the Russians’ request was rejected by SDF leaders.
