Ain Issa | Violent clashes renew between SDF and Turkish-backed factions, amid intensive Turkish bombardment

Syrian Observatory activists have monitored renewed violent clashes on the frontlines of Ain Issa in the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah between Syria Democratic Forces and Turkish-backed factions. The ongoing fierce clashes, which erupted in the early hours of Saturday morning, coincides with exchange of bombardment and intensive Turkish rocket fire.

The clashes are concentrated on the frontlines of Jahbal, Al-Mushayrifah and the surrounding areas of Ain Issa. SOHR sources say that the frontlines of Jahbal and Al-Mushayrifah experience tit-for-tat clashes, amid reports of further casualties on both sides.

Yesterday, SOHR activists documented the death of two SDF fighters in bombardment and clashes in Jahbal village in Ain Issa countryside in northern Al-Raqqah. Observatory sources also reported that the residents of Jahbal village in Ain Issa countryside are besieged, after SDF had withdrawn from the village a few hours earlier.

In the afternoon, SOHR sources reported that clashes were suspended on Jahbal and Mushayrifah frontlines in eastern Ain Issa, as the Turkish-backed factions had launched a violent attack in the early hours of Friday morning, backed by intensive Turkish artillery fire. However, the factions did not manage to capture any new positions.

Syrian Observatory activists documented the death of nine fighters of Turkish-backed factions, some of whom killed in a landmine explosion while the others killed in clashes with SDF in the area. Meanwhile, the military operations between both sides were confined to exchange of shelling.
