Deteriorating security | Two men shot dead in western Al-Suwaidaa

Al-Suwaidaa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have documented the death of two brothers after unknown gunmen opened machinegun fire on the car they were travelling in, on the road between Al-Mazra’a and Al-Dour in the western countryside of Al-Suwaidaa. Meanwhile, the perpetrators and circumstances of the attack remained unknown. This attack comes as a part of the escalating security chaos across Al-Suwaidaa province.

On December 16, reliable SOHR sources monitored growing tension in Al-Suwaidaa city, following clashes between fighters of local factions and another person. According to Syrian Observatory sources, tension began in the morning as the person attacked a group commander of a local faction and opened fire on his house. Members of the local faction responded to the attack by storming the person’s house in the afternoon, where an exchange of gunfire took place between the two sides, amid reports of the death of a woman who was inside the house.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the main reason behind the tension was the faction’s accusation to this person of theft.
