Old ordnance | Landmine explosion seriously injures child in Hama

SOHR sources have reported that a child has sustained serious injuries and lost one of his limbs as a result of the explosion of an old landmine in farmlands in Kernaz town in the northern countryside of Hama.

It is worth noting that frequent incidents of old ordnance explosions took place in large spaces of Hama countryside and southern and eastern countryside of Idlib which have experienced violent battles between regime forces and opposition factions for long time.

On December 9, SOHR activists have documented the death of a young civilian from Maar Shahour in Idlib countryside in a landmine explosion, while he was harvesting olive in farmlands in the regime-controlled village of Um Jalal in the eastern countryside of Marrat Al-Nu’man in southern Idlib.

SOHR sources reported in late November the explosion of an old landmine on agricultural land near the town of Maarrat al-Nu’man, which is under the control of regime forces and loyalists in the southern countryside of Idlib. The explosion killed two people and injured three others.
