Growing tension | “Al-Hamzah Division” arrests member of “Al-Mu’tasem Brigade”, triggering clashes in Ras Al-Ain

Al-Hasakah Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: A member of “Al-Mu’tasem Brigade” was injured after being shot by members of “Al-Hamzah Division” during clashes among both Turkish-backed factions in Ras Al-Ain city (Sere Kaniye) in Al-Hasakah countryside. The clashes erupted this evening after “Al-Hamzah Division” had arrested a member of “Al-Mu’tasem Brigade”, while the factions were seen on high alert, as “Al-Hamzah Division” refused to release the member of “Al-Mu’tasem Brigade”.

This development comes as a part of ongoing violations in “Peace Spring” areas.

On December 19, SOHR activists monitored clashes with machineguns in Ras Al-Ain city among a group of “Jaysh Al-Izza”, after a dispute over revenue-sharing. A member sustained serious injuries during the clashes and he was taken later to the hospital.
