Israeli attacks | Strikes destroy missiles and ammunition depots affiliated to Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias in Al-Zabadani

Israeli strikes kill and injure six members of "Air-Defence" forces

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has obtained new details about the Israeli attack on Syria in the early hours of Wednesday morning. According to SOHR sources, missiles and ammunition depots affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias in Al-Nabi Habeel in Al-Zabadani countryside have been destroyed after being hit with Israeli missiles, amid confirmed reports of casualties.

It is worth noting that the targeted depots are dug in the mountain, while the region’s heights host large number of weapons and ammunition depots belonging to Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias. Moreover, this area is used by Hezbollah to store weapons and ammunition before transporting them into Lebanon.

On the other hand, the Israeli attacks targeted the regime’s “Air-Defence Battalion” in the same region, while attempting to intercept the Israeli missiles, leaving one member of the “Air-Defence Battalion” dead and five others injured, two seriously.

It is worth noting that Russian forces are stationed in Al-Zabadani and surrounding areas, a few hundreds of metres a way from the Israeli bombardment.

A few hours ago, Observatory activists reported hearing loud explosion in Al-Zabadani area in the north-west of Damascus in the early hours of Wednesday morning, caused by new Israeli bombardment on Syria.

The Israeli strikes hit positions of the Lebanese Hezbollah in Al-Nabi Habeel area in Al-Zabadani countryside and the “Air-Defence Battalion” in the region, which attempted to intercept the Israeli missiles. The attacks caused material damage, amid reports of casualties.

On December 25, SOHR activists documented human and material losses, as a result of the new Israeli strikes on Syrian territory this morning. Israeli missiles flying over Lebanese territory have destroyed warehouses and manufacturing centres for short and medium-range missiles belonging to Iranian militias in the scientific research area, the “Defense Factories”, within the area of Al-Zawiya in Masyaf countryside.

Centres and positions were also targeted in al-Talae’ camp in Sheikh Ghadban area in Masyaf countryside as well.

The strikes left six people of non-Syrian nationalities dead. It is not yet known whether they were members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards or pro-Iranian militiamen.

The death toll is expected to rise, as some of the injured are in serious condition, amid reports of further fatalities of non-Syrian nationalities.

It is worth noting that Masyaf area hosts a centre for developing medium-range missiles in Al-Zawi village as well as Al-Talae’ camp in Sheikh Ghadban village in Masyaf countryside.
