Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle | Russian jets renew airstrikes, while clashes are underway between regime forces and ISIS

SOHR sources have reported renewed airstrikes by Russian fighter jets on ISIS positions in the Syrian desert, particularly Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle, along with ongoing clashes between ISIS and regime forces, amid confirmed reports of casualties on both sides.

On December 23, regime forces and loyal militias continued their new security campaign against ISIS cells in Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle, backed by Russian fighter jets which executed intensive airstrikes on ISIS positions in the region. This security campaign started a day earlier when regime forces cut off the road between Atherya and Al-Raqqah.

SOHR activists monitored fierce clashes between regime forces and ISIS in the previous 24 hours, along with intensive aerial bombardment, which left great losses among both sides, as five regime soldiers and loyalists were killed, while ISIS lost nine members. The death toll is expected to rise further as the clashes and bombardment left several combatants injured, some seriously.
