Hours after SDF’s raid on smuggling areas | Unknown gunmen target SDF patrol in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside

Deir ez-Zor province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was injured today, as unidentified gunmen targeted a military patrol in Theban town in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.

This comes hours after campaign of arrests carried out by SDF in the area.

Hours ago, reliable sources have informed SOHR that SDF launched a security campaign in Theban town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, arresting seven young men working in smuggling goods to regime-controlled areas, via river crossings between the banks of Euphrates river. SDF confiscated a ferry carrying flour prepared to be transported to regime-held areas. Meanwhile, SDF members arrested a person in Al-Baghous town also working in smuggling goods to regime-controlled areas.

Yesterday, SOHR sources said that a large SDF military group comprising nearly 50 vehicles and hundreds of members stormed Al-Zar village and Al-Shuhayl town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The security forces announced, via loudspeakers, a curfew in Al-Shuhayl town for three days, before launching a large-scale security campaign in the town and arresting 15 people for unknown reasons. According to SOHR sources, the detainees have been beaten and humiliated during the campaign.

In Al-Zar village, however, the security forces arrested four other people. It is worth noting that International Coalition jets were seen flying over the region since morning, where they triggered panic among the residents after breaking the sound barrier.
