Syrian desert | Over 60 Russian airstrikes hit ISIS positions in 24 hours
Syrian Observatory activists have reported that Russian fighter jets have executed over 60 airstrikes in the past 24 hours, targeting ISIS positions in the Syrian deserts which is administratively a part of Deir Ezzor, Homs, Aleppo, Hama, Al-Raqqah provinces. SOHR activists have reported seeing frequent flights by Russian jets over the desert after yesterday’s attack by ISIS on a military bus carrying members of the regime-backed “4th Division” on the road between Homs and Deir Ezzor.
Observatory activists documented the death of 37 regime soldiers due to this attack, including eight officers, while ten others sustained various injuries.
Yesterday, SOHR sources reported renewed airstrikes by Russian fighter jets on ISIS positions in the Syrian desert, particularly Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle, along with ongoing clashes between ISIS and regime forces, amid confirmed reports of casualties on both sides.
On December 23, regime forces and loyal militias continued their new security campaign against ISIS cells in Aleppo-Hama-Al-Raqqah triangle, backed by Russian fighter jets which executed intensive airstrikes on ISIS positions in the region.
