Iranian military in Syria | IRGC starts 40-day-course in Al-Mayadeen, recruiting more people from the city and surrounding villages

Deir Ezzor Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has started a military and ideological course in Al-Mayadeen city in Deir Ezzor countryside, as applicants can register their names in this course for 40 days. It is worth noting that nearly 100 people from Al-Mayadeen and surrounding towns and villages have joined the course.

 

According to SOHR sources, the IRGC command will distribute the applicants to headquarters and observation centres in areas under the its control.

 

On December 29, SOHR sources monitored commemoration of the first anniversary of the death of Qassem Soleimani, the former IRGC-Quds Force commander, in Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

 

A celebration was held in Al-Hussein school in Al-Mayadeen city and it was attended by IRGC-affiliated top commanders, including the leader of the local militia of “Al-Qura”, the leader of “Abu Al-Fadl Al-Abbas Brigade”, the leader of ” Sayeda Zeinab Brigade”, and the leader of “Al-Sheikh” militia. During the celebration, a speech was given glorifying Qassem Soleimani’s role and efforts in defeating terrorism in Syria, as his affiliates described. Furthermore, a poem was made praising Soleimani. It is worth noting that Iranian-backed militias held a similar celebration in Al-Hassan school in Al-Mayadeen city yesterday.

 

On December 16, SOHR sources reported that the Iranians continued trying to instill their ideologies into the segments of Syrian society, particularly children, in areas under the control of Iranian militias in Syria, exploiting the deteriorating economic situation.

 

In this context, reliable sources informed SOHR that “Al-Mahdi Scout Centre” held a training course for 12 children studying at schools supervised by the “Iranian Cultural Centre” in Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, with the aim to learn them the art of “Radoud”, also known as “Al-Latmiyyat Al-Shi’yah” (self flagellation: a religious ritual practiced by Shiite community). The course was under the supervision of the “Iranian Cultural Centre”.
