After memorial service in Al-Mayadeen | Iranian-backed militias in Al-Bokamal commemorate first anniversary of Soleimani’s death

Deir Ezzor Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Syrian Observatory activists have monitored celebrations in Al-Bokamal city in the eastern countryside in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, commemorating the first anniversary of the death of Qassem Soleimani, the former IRGC-Quds Force commander.

 

According to SOHR sources, today’s memorial service has been held in Al-Fayhaa square in Al-Bokamal city, commemorating the first anniversary of Soleimani’s death, as preparations started in the square yesterday, including the fixing of posters of Qassem Soleimani and Iranian and Syrian flags. Meanwhile, armed militiamen and sniper have been deployed on the roof of houses around the square. Also, side streets in Al-Bokamal city were blocked, along with the arrival of commanders of all Iranian-backed militias present in Deir Ezzor province. Furthermore, several officials in security branches and regime officers attended the memorial service.

 

On December 29, SOHR sources monitored commemoration of the first anniversary of the death of Qassem Soleimani, the former IRGC-Quds Force commander, in Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

 

A celebration was held in Al-Hussein school in Al-Mayadeen city and it was attended by IRGC-affiliated top commanders, including the leader of the local militia of “Al-Qura”, the leader of “Abu Al-Fadl Al-Abbas Brigade”, the leader of ” Sayeda Zeinab Brigade”, and the leader of “Al-Sheikh” militia. During the celebration, a speech was given glorifying Qassem Soleimani’s role and efforts in defeating terrorism in Syria, as his affiliates described. Furthermore, a poem was made praising Soleimani. It is worth noting that Iranian-backed militias held a similar celebration in Al-Hassan school in Al-Mayadeen city yesterday.

 

On December 16, SOHR sources reported that the Iranians continued trying to instill their ideologies into the segments of Syrian society, particularly children, in areas under the control of Iranian militias in Syria, exploiting the deteriorating economic situation.

 

In this context, reliable sources informed SOHR that “Al-Mahdi Scout Centre” held a training course for 12 children studying at schools supervised by the “Iranian Cultural Centre” in Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, with the aim to learn them the art of “Radoud”, also known as “Al-Latmiyyat Al-Shi’yah” (self flagellation: a religious ritual practiced by Shiite community). The course was under the supervision of the “Iranian Cultural Centre”.
