Anti-ISIS campaign | SDF arrests five people after raiding village east of Deir ez-Zor, including relative of Al-Khair State’s wali

SOHR activists say that SDF’s “Counter-Terrorism Forces” raided the village of Abreeha in eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour, arresting five people, including a former ISIS member, an arms dealer, as well as a relative of the former Governor (wali) of “Al-Khair Province.”

This raid comes following reports suggested that Abu al-Montaser, the former governor (wali) of “Al-Khair Province”, was killed in unknown circumstances this month in al-Dashisha area in southern countryside of Hasakeh, where he has been hiding in the area since the SDF took control of the town of Al-Baghuz.

SOHR sources have reported earlier that International Coalition Forces carried out an airdrop in the north-eastern desert of Deir Ezzor, on the road to Al-Rawdah. SOHR activists have monitored frequent flights by drones and helicopters, while a drone struck a hut in Sawhat Al-Boferyo near the area where the airdrop took place, destroying the hut and eliminating an ISIS cell of three members. One of the fatalities is from Hawayij Theban village, while the two others are believed to be Iraqis.

On December 26, Observatory activists reported that Syria Democratic Forces, backed by International Coalition aircraft, launched a new campaign in the north-eastern desert of Deir Ezzor, searching for ISIS cells.
