Tal Al-Samn blast | Several Russian soldiers injured in today’s car-bomb attack

Syrian Observatory activists have documented the injury of several Russian soldiers in the Russian base in Tal Al-Samn in northern Al-Raqqah, after being hit with shrapnel caused by today’s car-bomb explosion near the base. It is worth noting that “Hurras Al-Din” organization has claimed responsibility of the attack which is the first of its kind in north-eastern Syria region.

According to SOHR sources, two men had parked the booby-trapped car near the Russian base, before they opened fire on the base and escaped, then the car-bomb was remotely detonated.

SOHR sources reported earlier hearing an explosion, in the early hours of Friday morning, in the SDF-controlled town of Tal Al-Samn in the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah, where Russian forces are present. The explosion was caused by the detonation of a car-bomb near the Russian base in the town, which caused material damage, but no casualties have been reported so far.

Meanwhile, the jihadi organization of “Hurras Al-Din” operating in western Syria region has claimed responsibility of the attack.

On December 7, SOHR sources reported that Russian forces brought in military reinforcement to their base in Tal Al-Samn area in northern Al-Raqqah for unknown reasons. The reinforcement included vehicles carrying military personnel and materiel.
