Deteriorating security in SDF-held areas | IED explodes in military vehicle of Asayish Forces in Al-Raqqah

SOHR sources have reported the explosion of an IED planted under a military vehicle of the SDF-backed Internal Security Forces (Asayish) at the junction of Kabash farm in north-western Al-Raqqah, which lightly wounded the targeted vehicle’s driver.

On January 5, SOHR activists said that gunmen attacked a military vehicle carrying five SDF members, including a journalist who was hit with several gunshots in the chest, on al-Abyad road in al-Karama area in east al-Raqqah countryside. Meanwhile, SDF managed to arrest 18 of the attackers, without knowing their affiliation.

On January 4, an IED planted earlier by unknown gunmen exploded in a military vehicle near Al-Hadeqah Al-Badyaa (the White Park) in the west of Al-Raqqah city centre, which is under the control of SDF. The explosion injured two people, including a man working in a real estate office. The explosion coincided with the escalating security chaos in SDF-controlled areas.
