Military build-up | Regime forces boost checkpoints in eastern Daraa

Daraa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources have informed SOHR that regime forces have established a new checkpoint between Al-Na’imah and Um Al-Mayazen towns in the eastern countryside of Daraa. Regime forces also boosted the checkpoint with nearly 15 members of the “15th Divisions” as well as a “T52” tank.

Meanwhile, new reinforcement was brought in to other checkpoints affiliated to regime forces in the eastern countryside of Daraa in the past few days. This development coincides with the escalating security chaos throughout Daraa and daily assassinations which target military personnel and regime “collaborators.

On January 6, SOHR activists documented three assassinations and assassination attempts targeted three members since early morning, as an ex-ISIS member, who had conciliated with security services and carried a security card, sustained injuries after unknown gunmen opened fire on him in Daraa Al-Balad. The attack also resulted in the injury of other two men, a drag dealer and a “collaborator” with regime security branches, who were escorting the ex-ISIS member. On the other hand, unknown gunmen shot dead a member of the Russian-backed 5th Corps in Kahil town in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

Meanwhile, SOHR activists had documented the injury of an “informant” of “Air-Defence Intelligence”, after being shot by unknown gunmen in Al-Ghariyah Al-Sharqiyyah town in eastern Daraa.
