Several schools in eastern Deir Ezzor start strike until cancellation of decision imposing compulsory conscription on teachers and employees

Deir Ezzor Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources have told SOHR that officials in charge of schools in Al-Sha’fa town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, which is affiliated with the educational centre of Al-Sha’fa, have suspended work in these schools until the cancellation of Self-Protection’s decision imposing compulsory conscription on teachers and employees.

A few hours ago, Observatory activists monitored students and their parents holding a vigil in front of a school in Abu Hamam town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, expressing rejection of ongoing deployment of Syria Democratic Forces in the school which SDF turned into military headquarters, although the students were still studying in the school. The residents also called upon the International Coalition to force SDF to get out the school.

On January 9, Observatory sources  monitored a new demonstration by dozens of residents in Abu Hamam town in eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, calling on the SDF to cancel mandatory conscription and fight corruption in the institutions of the “Autonomous Administration”.
