Eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside | Unidentified explosion rocks areas held by Iranian-backed militias

Deir ez-Zor governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources have reported an explosion in al-Mayadeen area in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, which is under the control of pro-Iranian militias. No information has been reported so far about the nature of the explosion, which took place specifically in the village of Al-Tayba near the city of Al-Mayadeen. However, the explosion destroyed several shops, and causing damage to a house.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the damaged house was seized earlier by ISIS during ISIS reign in the area, and turned it into a manufacturing centre for IEDs and landmines.

Yesterday, reliable sources informed SOHR that Iranian forces and their proxy militias redeployed, in the past few hours, in areas which came under the most intensive Israeli airstrikes on Syria yesterday. The Iranian forces and their proxies have redeployed troops in the cities of Deir Ezzor, Al-Mayadeen and Al-Bokamal, after they had evacuated several positions on the outskirts of these cities.

According to SOHR sources, a group of Iranian-backed militias has been deployed in residential neighbourhoods for fear of future airstrikes, the other group has been deployed in their affiliated posts.
