Deir ez-Zor | “Fatimiyoun” militia detonates old ordnance west of the city

Deir ez-Zor province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR activists have reported violent explosions in Deir ez-Zor area. According to SOHR sources, the explosions caused by detonating remnants of war by the Afghan and pro-Iranian “Fatimiyoun” militia near al-Rawad area, west of Deir ez-Zour city centre.

Two days ago, reliable sources in Al-Mayadeen area in the eastern countryside of Dier Ezzor told SOHR that Iranian-backed militias lowered their flags fixed earlier on their headquarters in the region and raised the internationally recognized Syrian flag instead, amid reports suggest that several militias in Al-Bokamal and Deir Ezzor city have done the same.

This development coincides with frequent redeployments by Iranian-backed militias in the region since Israel’s latest attack.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that Iranian-backed militias continued deploying troops and changing positions in Al-Mayadeen and Al-Bokamal cities, near the Syria-Iraq border, as well as other areas in Deir Ezzor countryside.

SOHR activists also monitored frequent redeployments by Iranian-backed militias after Israel’s recent attack on Deir Ezzor city, as these militias transferred military materiel and camps to other positions.

It is worth noting that Israeli strikes killed 57 people in attacks on positions, weapons depots, ammunition and rockets belonging to regime forces, Hezbollah, Iranian forces and allied militias on January 13.
