Old ordnance | Landmine explodes killing two children, while grazing cattle in south-eastern countryside of Homs

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the deaths of two children, as a result of an old landmine explosion left over from war, while they were grazing sheep on the outskirts of the city of Al-Qaryatain, located in the Syrian desert in south-eastern countryside of Homs.

An increasing number of people killed recently by a landmine, unexploded bombs, and collapse of war-damaged residential buildings in various Syrian areas and cities such as Homs, Hama Deir Ezzor, Aleppo, and southern Syria.

The Syrian Observatory has documented since January 2019 to date some 423 fatalities, including 71 women and 137 children. Of the total number, the Syrian Observatory documented the deaths of 45 people, including 30 women and five children, in their search and collect for “Syrian wild truffles”, which put their lives at risk, “Syrian wild truffles” grow in areas that are exposed to heavy rains and are sold at high prices.
