Idlib | HTS-affiliated “Al-Ghana’em Committee” raises rent of seized shops

As residents in areas under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham are struggling with dire living conditions and economy hardship in the light of the astronomically inflated prices, shortage of fuel used for heating and lack of job opportunities, HTS continues imposing taxies and levies on residents without providing any services.

In this context, the HTS-affiliated “Al-Ghana’em Committee” and the “economic affairs bureau” have conducted a tour in Idlib city, inspecting the shops which are under the control of “Al-Ghana’em Committee”, where they informed the leaseholders of the new list of rent fees that will be applied from February, as the rent of these shops will reach almost a double.

The rent fees are varying according to the shops’ locations, as in Al-Sa’a square in Idlib city, for example, the rent has risen from 250 USD to 400 USD. The new prices therefore have affected the prices of goods in the area.

It is worth noting that these shops had been originally owned by pro-regime persons and regime soldiers. However, Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham has seized these shops after HTS captured Idlib city years ago.
