For the first time, the the Roman archaeological theater witnesses executions carried out by IS against 20 members of the regime forces and allied militiamen
IS carried out new executions against men in the city of Deir Ezzor seized by IS since May 20. Local sources in the city informed SOHR that the number of people executed by Islamic State has reached to 20, where IS gathered people in the place of execution and said that those people are “Rawafed and Nusayriyya (Shiite and Alawite) from the regime forces and allied militiamen”, then IS militants shoot them on the Roman archaeological theater in the city of Palmyra.
Thus, the number of executions carried out by IS since May 16, until now has risen to 237 at least, including dozens of civilians of children, women and men while the others were regime members and allied militiamen. In addition to, there are about 600 prisoners of the regime forces, allied militiamen and civilians accused of being “agents for the regime”.
SOHR made sure that IS executed 67 civilians, including 14 children and 12 women, in the city of al- Sikhni, village of al- Aamiriyyi, city of Palmyra and on the outskirts of the Officer Housing for “dealing with the regime forces and hiding regime’s members in their houses”. The death toll includes 5 nurses executed in the city of Palmyra in east of Homs.
SOHR also could document execution of 150 members of the regime forces, NDF, people’s committees and other people for being “informer for the regime forces”. The sources confirmed to SOHR that most of them were beheaded.
It is expected that the destiny of the 600 detainees of the regime forces and allied militiamen will be the same destiny of the 217 people who were executed by IS. IS has started to execute civilians in May 16, after 2 days of taking control of the city of al- Sikhni, where IS started it attack on the city in the 13th of May until day before yesterday, while executions against members of the regime forces and allied militiamen who were arrested during the last attack on the area have continued. IS attack ended by taking control over the city of al- Sikhni, village of al- Amiriyyi, gas fields of al- Arc, Jazal and al- Hil, city of Palmyra, al- Sawanah area and the T3 station in east of Homs.
