Turkish shelling on Tel Rifa’at | Nearly 15 people killed and injured in attack on city hosting over 20,000 displaced people from Afrin

Aleppo Governorate – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored this afternoon a rocket attack by Turkish forces and proxy factions on areas in the city of Tel Rifa’at, located in the northern Aleppo countryside, which is controlled by Kurdish forces and hosts a Russian military base and the regime forces.

The shelling left casualties, where three civilians were killed: two children from Tel Rifaat and a woman from Afrin, and at least 11 others were injured. The shelling coincided with the flight of a Turkish drone over the area.

It is worth noting that the city of Tal Rifa’at is home to more than 22,000 displaced people from the Afrin region, who were forced to flee their areas due to the Turkish military operation “Olive Branch”, three years ago.

Few days ago, SOHR sources said that Kurdish forces fired several mortars on the Turkish military base in Azaz city in the northern countryside of Aleppo, along with targeting the frontlines with Turkish-backed factions in the area with heavy and medium machineguns.

SOHR activists reported that Turkish forces shelled, with artillery, the surrounding areas of Tal Rifaat town, Harbal village and Mar’naz in Kurdish controlled areas in the northern countryside Aleppo. No casualties were reported.
