Arbitrary arrests | Man and his son among four civilians arrested by regime security services in western Rif Dimashq

Rif Dimashq Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources have informed SOHR that the regime security services arrested four civilians, including a young man and his father, in the past few days, after establishing a makeshift checkpoint on the road between Al-Muqaylabiyyah and Zakyah in western Rif Dimashq. Meanwhile, the reasons behind these arrests remained unknown.

Yesterday, reliable sources told SOHR that regime security services arrested three young men, who had been members of opposition factions during their control of Kanaker town in western Rif Dimashq and refused to stay in their areas to leave to north Syria region.

According to SOHR sources, the three young men were arrested at a regime checkpoint in Al-Sumariyyah area in Damascus city centre, despite they struck a reconciliation after the agreement in Kanaker town in November 2020. Besides, the arrested young men had security cards issued by the “4th Division”. However, they did not involve in military operations and remained in Kanaker town until they were arrested.

On the other hand, a delegation of Russian officers met with several residents and settled-status former commanders and members of opposition factions, in the wake of the arrest of the three young men and regime repression on the residents again in Kanaker, including arbitrary arrests and checkpoints’ rigorously inspection of civilians traveling from and to the town.

The Russian officers promised the residents to put an end to the regime forces’ violations against Kanaker town, and to exert more efforts to set the detainees free in the following days.
